As the Software Engineering Practice Manager, you will lead a Centre of Excellence (CoE), promoting innovation, technical leadership, and continuous learning through best practices, research, and collaboration. You will guide a team focused on embedding data engineering practices, aligning resources, and delivering high-quality outcomes. Engaging in agile methodologies, you will maintain a strategic overview to ensure operational efficiency and uphold engineering standards. You will serve as a key technical leader, coaching engineers, ensuring quality, and aligning technical work with architectural vision.
Responsibilities include:
- Set the Vision for Engineering Excellence: Define and promote a clear engineering strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Lead Standards and Best Practices: Establish and uphold high-quality engineering standards across multiple teams.
- Support Agile Delivery: Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to technical decisions, and foster collaborative problem-solving.
- Align and Optimize Resources: Ensure effective allocation of engineering resources.
- Foster a Positive Engineering Culture: Build a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Define and Track Key Metrics: Develop metrics to evaluate engineering quality and productivity.
- Ensure Robust Technical Delivery: Oversee delivery of scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
- Support Growth and Cross-Team Collaboration: Mentor engineers and encourage collaboration with architects, product owners, QA, and infrastructure teams.
About you:
- Proven leadership in coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
- Technical expertise in technologies like Mulesoft, Salesforce, Node.js, React, TypeScript, Python, and experience managing integration projects.
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform).
- Deep knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Experience supporting testing frameworks and quality assurance activities.
- Proven ability to lead teams through technology migrations with strategic oversight.
- Experience developing and launching mobile applications and working with offshore/hybrid teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
