AWE is currently recruiting for Senior Manufacturing Development Engineers to lead the provision of Manufacturing Engineering expertise in the development of novel or improved manufacturing solutions in support of AWE Programmes. Apply Engineering methods, tools and processes to complex engineering tasks and provide guidance and mentoring to inexperienced engineers about the practical use of Engineering methods, tools and processes. You would also strategically deliver engineering solutions that will maximise productivity, reliability, innovation and quality to the business, providing enduring, comprehensive manufacturing capabilities. Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home with these roles. Successful candidates will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE.
What you would be doing:
- Delivering Manufacturing Engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements, across the full engineering lifecycle, to a high standard.
- Leading effective stakeholder management to engage others in order to have a positive impact on decisions and programme delivery.
- Supporting and mentoring developing engineers in the production of engineering solutions and their career progression, including undertaking the role of professional mentor.
- When required, leading collaboration with equipment vendors in the development of tailored solutions that best meet the requirements of the business.
- Leading engagement with external partners in the field of manufacturing development with responsibility to disseminate key information to the business.
- Representing the department as a manufacturing technical professional.
- Fostering and maintaining technical outreach relationships (Universities, supply chain interface, international partnerships).
- Demonstrating manufacturing best practice throughout AWE.
- Leading, coaching & developing a team to meet delivery objectives, as a Task Manager, which may include multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality.
- Ensuring compliance with Licence/Authorisation Conditions, Legislation and Regulations.
Experience:
- Record of hands-on technical development with attention to detail.
- Demonstrable CAE experience (NX, Discrete process simulation, FEA etc).
- Experience in mechanical design (NX).
- Extensive Manufacturing Engineering process knowledge.
- Research skills.
- Design of experiments/developing programs of R&D.
- Ability to work independently or with colleagues as required.
- Leadership and technical project management.
- Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical developments.
- Track record of driving technical delivery, performance and continuous improvement.
- Technical awareness of product/domain.
- Managing delivery of technical projects/programmes.
- Have the ability to engage with and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
