CK Group are recruiting for a Junior Coatings Technician, to join a paints and coatings manufacturing company, at their site based in Manchester, on a full time, permanent basis. The salary ranges from £25,000 per annum upwards, dependent on experience.

The Company: Our client is an established independent organisation, who are committed to the development of their staff, as well as to the growth of the company. They work individually with customers to best meet their needs. The successful Coatings Technician will ensure the smooth running of the coatings lab, by providing services to both internal and external customers.

Location: This Coatings Technician role will be based at the company's site in Manchester, easily commutable from surrounding areas.

Your main duties will be:

  • Formulation and testing of paints, coatings and finishes.
  • Providing technical advice and support to new and existing customers - travelling within the UK to customers.
  • Scaling up formulations for initial trials and commercial batches.
  • Providing QC documentation for raw materials and finished products.

Your Background: The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in development and formulation of solvent and water-based paints and coatings - alkyd, epoxy and polyurethane.
  • Ability to operate lab equipment safely, including ovens, accelerated weathering cabinets and general lab equipment.
  • Awareness of the Chemistry of degradation and corrosion, and able to produce panels for accelerated tests.
  • Familiarity with the operation of paint application equipment.
