Bennett and Game are currently on the lookout for a skilled Furniture Maker for one of our longest standing clients based in Bedford. Our client is looking for an experienced furniture maker with a genuine interest in cabinet making and woodwork manufacturing. The ideal individual should have a strong background within the making of furniture, not just fitting.

Job Overview

  • Apply appropriate joinery techniques to assemble furniture from technical drawings.
  • Effectively and efficiently use traditional woodworking machinery including but not limited to: planer thicknesser, spindle moulder, wide belt sander, veneer press.
  • Produce high quality furniture products in line with exceptional company standards.
  • Set out and accurately size sheet materials and solid timber from cutting lists.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.

Job Requirements

  • 2 or more years' experience as a furniture maker.
  • Experience as a furniture maker or in a workshop environment.
  • Experience with laminating, veneering and edge banding preferable but not required.
  • Good knowledge of workshop machinery and safe practices.
  • Read and understand technical drawings.
  • Experience working with a wide range of materials such as MDF, real wood veneers, solid wood.
