We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Harbour Master and Pilot to join our team up in Scotland. As Deputy Harbour Master & Pilot, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of port activities across both Ayr and Troon. You will support the Harbour Master in the day-to-day management of marine operations and act as a Pilot, providing expert navigation services to vessels entering and leaving the ports.
Key Responsibilities- Act as Pilot for vessels requiring assistance into and out of Ayr and Troon Ports.
- Deputise for the Harbour Master, ensuring compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code and local regulations.
- Oversee marine operations including berthing, mooring, and vessel traffic management.
- Liaise with port users, shipping agents, and stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of port activities.
- Support emergency response planning and incident management.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of marine safety procedures and risk assessments.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with:
- A valid UK STCW II/2 Certificate of Competency (Master Unlimited) or equivalent Royal Navy.
- Proven pilotage experience or the ability to qualify as a Pilot under ABP’s training scheme.
- Strong knowledge of marine legislation, port operations, and navigational safety.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- The ability to work flexibly, including outside normal working hours when required.
