Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across production and non-production environments
  • Monitor database health and performance, ensuring availability, security, and scalability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time, recommending long-term solutions
  • Refine and automate regular processes and track issues through to resolution
  • Support developers with query tuning and schema optimisation
  • Perform routine maintenance and assist with out-of-hours release deployments
  • Deliver project-based work to deadlines and contribute to testing strategies
  • Work with business teams to help shape technical requirements and designs
  • Promote adherence to standards through documentation and knowledge sharing

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience with SQL Server (2012 onwards)
  • Proven track record of installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server instances
  • Skilled in query optimisation, indexing strategies, and database performance tuning
  • Experience with capacity management and data archiving
  • Strong knowledge of HA/DR solutions
  • Comfortable using tools like SQL Profiler and Extended Events
  • Confident collaborating with developers and stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Linux shell scripting
  • Exposure to other database platforms
  • Experience using Jira or LogicMonitor
  • Working knowledge of Windows or other operating systems
