There is an opportunity to join HeliosX as an Engineering Manager to lead an exceptional engineering team, as we embark on an exciting growth journey. We are seeking a dynamic leader who will provide strategic direction, architectural oversight, and mentorship to our talented engineers. Responsibilities: Accountable for the delivery of up to two teams, and line manager for the technical members of the teams. You will be managing up to 10-12 direct reports. Managers at HeliosX hold a high bar for individual performance and are proactive to make changes where necessary for the benefit of the team. You will be in the detail of project planning and delivery, working alongside your Product Team counterpart. Accountable for refining team processes, tools, etc. in order to increase team impact over time and ensuring that your team(s) are working effectively. You should be in the detail enough understand the technical challenges your teams need to face to deliver a project, but will not be expected to be contributing code directly. Over time you will gain enough system knowledge to give rough estimates of complexity of future projects, delegating to your teams for more detailed analysis. JVM or TypeScript/ReactJS experience required. Requirements : 2+ years line management experience. You are an empathetic manager and leader, skilled at coaching, providing constructive feedback, and building strong relationships with your reports. Your approach to agile is pragmatic, allowing you to adapt the development process to suit your team’s needs. Data-driven decision-making is your forte, utilising metrics to focus on key priorities and track progress. Thriving in an ambiguous startup environment is second nature to you. While coding is no longer your primary role, your technical background enables you to have an appreciation of the fine detail of projects and occasionally personally contribute to delivery.
