Overview

A leading design and build contractor operating within the UK water sector is currently seeking an experienced Senior or Civil Design Engineer to join their team, based in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to contribute to major infrastructure projects with a company known for its technical excellence and long-term framework partnerships.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality civil design solutions for water and wastewater treatment projects, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams while ensuring full compliance with safety, environmental, and contractual standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Create practical, cost-effective civil design layouts in line with project specifications.
• Apply and enhance standardised design practices to drive efficiency.
• Provide technical support and cost inputs to the proposals team.
• Develop and refine internal procedures for improved design delivery.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders for fully integrated designs.
• Maintain accurate records and design documentation throughout project lifecycles.
• Embed environmental and health & safety considerations into all designs.
• Promote a culture focused on client satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

• Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate civil design experience within the water or process industry.
• Strong knowledge of water and sewage treatment principles.
• Chartered or nearing chartered status with a recognised professional institution.
• Proven ability to rationalise designs and develop efficient plant layouts.

Qualifications:

• Preferred: Civil Engineering Degree
• Minimum: HND in Civil Engineering
