AWS Global Sales (AGS) is seeking a Director, Sales (Partners) Japan to help grow and scale our Partner Sales team in Japan. Japan is a critical, fast growing market for AWS globally. This Director will serve as part of the AWS Japan executive leadership team providing direction and enabling our teams to unlock value on behalf of our customers through the solutions and capabilities our AWS Partner Network offers. This individual will contribute at an Asia Pacific and Japan geo level to design and drive the next generation of engagement with Partners and customers alike.
To be successful you will need to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, sales teams, partner sales and technical teams, be results driven with experience in sales, channel, or business development and be bold in your strategy to scale AWS reach and impact with Partners. The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership qualities, and will draw upon experience in sales, relationship building, and both direct and matrix operating structures. The individual must have experience in building and inspiring teams to execute against a solid business strategy, driving a high performance culture in the team, and delivering against targets.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the all-inclusive partner sales strategy across SI, MSP, VAR, and ISV in Japan, including the annual planning cycle.
- Manage a partner sales target delivered through a broad set of AWS Partner Network (APN) Consulting and Technology Partners in Japan.
- Lead a team of partner sales managers as well as an in-direct technical team that are responsible for the overall success of APN partners selling with the AWS field teams.
- Represent AWS as the Head of Partner Sales and participate in industry and partner events to deliver thought leadership on the value of the AWS Partner Network for our customers.
- As the voice of the AWS field, engage with AWS Partner Organisation leaders to support the recruitment and build of partner capability and capacity within Japan.
- Manage and develop multiple senior sales and technical relationships across a wide range of top partners and establish the partner sales team as the single point of contact for selling with AWS.
- Drive efficiencies and operational improvements across the partner sales function and be an active voice for change and improvement to the partner core teams.
- Manage the operational cadence of business reviews (MBR, QBR) with the country leadership, regional and global teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Executive leadership experience that has been accountable to not only execute a strategy but define and communicate it.
- Extensive experience in sales/channel/business leadership.
- Experience building and leading teams and have worked in matrix operating structures.
- Demonstrated track record of success with sales/channel teams.
- Demonstrated success in leading large and complex customer engagements with business partners.
- Articulate and able to engage with executive leaders/CXO’s.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive goals to completion.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in both English and Japanese.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and familiarity with the AWS platform, products, solutions and capabilities.
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
