ROLE- Mechanical Design EngineerLOCATION- PortsmouthTERM- PermanentSALARY- £30,000-£45,000, dependent on experience My client is a specialist manufacturer within the Aerospace industry. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth on a permanent basis.The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Design / CAD Engineering positionPrevious experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environmentExperience in Aerospace, Automotive, or similar highly-regulated industries would be beneficial Be proficient using 3D CAD software, ideally Inventor or SolidWorks Ideally Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similarExperience designing precision parts and components would be beneficialExcellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials – sheet metal, fabrication, castings, machining etc.Excellent communication skills both verbal and writtenProficient using MS OfficeExcellent organisational skills and time management skillsHave the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary teamThe Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawingsLiaising with manufacturing providersBeing involved in final assembly of productsCreating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plansUpdating 3D models and drawingsInputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMsChecking drawings for sign offWorking in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projectsIf you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible.
