Mechanical Associate Director

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Associate Director to join our Building Environments team in our Manchester office.

The role offers the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of engaging and dynamic projects both in the UK and globally, including high-profile projects such as:

• Wrexham AFC Kop Stand Redevelopment, Wrexham (Populous)
• MMU Library Transformation Project, Manchester (Hawkins ext{Brown})
• Sister Manchester Plot C, Manchester (Allies & Morrison)

Our Manchester Building Services (MEP) team is involved in challenging projects, delivering innovative design solutions across HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing disciplines, emphasizing sustainability and resource efficiency.

Key Duties

• Lead and manage the mechanical team, taking project leadership as needed.
• Engage directly with clients, providing innovative design solutions and managing expectations.
• Develop technical and financial proposals for new projects.
• Manage workload and resources of engineers and technicians.
• Prepare technical specifications and monitor project financial performance.
• Undertake detailed mechanical design and calculations using Revit and IES software, with an understanding of embodied carbon.
• Embrace technologies to enhance performance and sustainability towards net zero targets by 2030.
• Ensure projects meet standards, deadlines, and budgets.
• Collaborate across disciplines and mentor junior team members.

Your Skills and Experience

• Extensive mechanical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with project leadership experience.
• Diverse sector experience, ideally with large-scale projects.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.
• Professional registration (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE).
• Good understanding of other design disciplines.
• Experience with analysis software like Revit and IES; willingness to learn new tools.
• Digital engineering skills are advantageous.
