Join our Team! We have some exciting opportunities available at Barking and Dagenham College. We are looking for a Head of Department for Digital Arts. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £55,566 to £69,566 per annum incl. London Weighting.
The Head of Department (HoD) is responsible for the growth and performance of designated department(s), including teaching, learning and assessment practices, and business planning.
Key Responsibilities of our Head of Digital Arts:- Working closely with the Faculty Director for Digital Arts, you will focus on the strategic growth, operational development, and continuous improvement of designated department(s), adopting an agile approach to ensure the curriculum reflects trends, LMI, industry reforms, etc.
- Be responsible for developing a curriculum offer that is relevant to local needs and in line with the College vision, and liaise with relevant external partners to ensure the department maximises opportunities.
- Develop and improve quality assurance processes related to a range of key performance indicators, ensuring compliance with all relevant quality assurance requirements and regulations (both internal and external), taking a lead role in promoting excellent practice in teaching, learning, and assessment, and leading on teacher development across the Service.
- Ensure curriculum leaders are accountable for the compliance of their areas with these processes and actively influence a performance management culture within the service.
- Drive positive cultural change, embodying and promoting the values and behaviours of the college, empowering staff to reach their full potential, and ensuring the performance and development framework is effective for all staff.
- Experience in developing and leading the delivery of the Service’s annual quality cycle, including observation of teaching and learning, training, performance monitoring, audits, and compliance with awarding bodies’ requirements.
- Supporting the Director in the Self-Assessment process, including developing high-quality self-assessment and quality improvement plans, and delivering staff training.
- Adopting a performance-focused approach to improve attendance, retention, achievement, and KPIs.
- Leading curriculum planning with teams to meet income targets.
- Experience managing in Adult Education or Further Education sectors.
- Knowledge of frameworks and external requirements, including Ofsted and awarding bodies.
- Proven experience in leading change and performance improvements.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret policy and data.
- Effective team working and influencing skills.
