Overview

Our Development Planning team is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to join our growing integrated Development team in Guildford. The role involves working on projects across commercial, retail, and residential sectors, developing transport strategies, and supporting planning processes with expert evidence. We collaborate with both private and public sector clients to develop transport and parking strategies, business cases, and scheme development, working closely with our high-level multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical transport planning for development projects, including project management and mentorship of early career professionals.
  • Manage transport planning input into small to medium projects and contribute to complex multidisciplinary projects, fostering business development and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategies, parking strategies, sustainable transport, and active travel, with familiarity with NPPF, DfT guidelines, Manual for Streets.
  • Proficiency in preparing traffic flow data for assessments and environmental statements.
  • Experience with junction capacity modeling software such as Junctions 10 and Linsig.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting, resource allocation, and invoicing.
  • Ability to design and supervise junction concepts like priority, roundabouts, and signals.
  • Strong communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
  • Mentoring skills, especially for early career colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other relevant software.
  • Developed professional network in the transport sector.
  • Significant postgraduate experience as an Engineer/Transport Planner, with a pursuit of chartered status preferred.
