In this role, you will ensure that LONGi Europe organisation is operating in accordance with customers’ ESG performance standards and is ready to meet upcoming EU and Member States legislations. Your role will involve examining our corporate activities and working with headquarters in China to determine where improvements can be made and ensuring compliance with Sustainability/ESG legislations and customer ESG performance standards. You will implement and create Sustainability/ESG reports to promote sustainable development in the organization. You will engage directly with customers to support their due diligence in ESG/Sustainability and assist in their ESG audits and assessments of LONGi’s facilities, identifying and resolving problems and ensuring compliance to performance standards.
What you will do:
- Engage with customers to present LONGi’s credentials in ESG/Sustainability.
- Develop and implement Sustainability/ESG strategies and action plans, to ensure LONGi corporate sustainable development meets customers’ ESG Performance Standards in co-operation with Legal, negotiate ESG/Sustainability agreements in customer contracts, manage associated costs, and ensure compliance.
- In co-operation with Sales Directors, ensure that all aspects of contractual agreements on ESG/Sustainability are met.
- Support implementation of ESG/Sustainability policies, practices and reporting to ensure compliance with legislations and keep up to date with UK, European Union and Member States regulations.
- Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, NSO and associations.
- Propose organisational sustainability targets, developing plans to meet legislative and customer performance targets and oversee their delivery.
- Conduct internal ESG impact assessments (e.g. Ecovadis, Archiles) to identify, assess and reduce LONGi’s organisation's ESG risks and to continually improve the impact of the organisation on the environment; as well as to provide confidence of LONGi credentials in ESG to customers.
- Promote and raise awareness within the organisation of the impact of emerging ESG/Sustainability issues and implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility.
- Manage relations with the directors, senior management and internal stakeholders on ESG/Sustainability environmental issues and responsibilities that impact the organization.
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree, or postgraduate qualification. Specialisation in one of the following subjects: bioscience, earth sciences, ecology, energy, environmental engineering, environmental health, environmental sciences or management engineering - with a sustainability focus.
- Business qualification or experience in business activity, especially in customer engagement is considered as important as is knowledge of environmental aspects.
- To show initiative, to recognise emerging problems and proactively develop solutions to mitigate the problems before they arise.
- To manage projects, as well as produce and deliver presentations.
- To be skilled in negotiations and project management, be organised and able to distill information for effective communications.
- To be fluent, both in writing and speaking in English, Chinese, and German.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of business.
