We have a great opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our project in the Southwest, where we are a delivery partner on a key infrastructure project.
The Senior Planning Engineer is accountable to the Project Controls Manager for day-to-day planning matters and remains functionally accountable to the Functional Lead (Planning) .
Please note: Potential candidates must be able to obtain and retain security clearance to be considered for this position. This requires a minimum of 5 years residence in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Prepare robust tender and contract programmes using the designated planning tool.
- Fully resource programmes, produce resource histograms, resource level programmes, understand and communicate the effects on schedules to the project team.
- Include appropriate financial data in the programme to produce a project cost/time distribution profile and communicate the results.
- Display and analyse the project Critical Path, advise the team of results and corrective actions.
- Produce/maintain project baselines and execute change control processes.
- Record project progress, reschedule accordingly, and communicate updates and corrective actions.
- Produce project reports/data from planning software, aligning with company accounting systems.
- Utilize Earned Value Analysis techniques to report on project status and advise on corrective actions.
- Ensure programmes meet contractual requirements and adhere to company standards.
- Manage a portfolio of project programmes and oversee Planning Engineers/Junior Planning Engineers, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Coordinate with Project Controls, Commercial, and Financial teams.
- Interface with vendors and examine documentation relevant to nuclear facilities programmes.
- Seek independent advice on facilities or documentation adequacy.
- Request necessary supporting services.
- Mentor Junior Planning team members for their development.
Qualifications
- Extensive Cost Management experience in sectors like nuclear, process engineering, oil & gas, or civil engineering.
- Experience in project controls and/or project cost management in relevant sectors.
- Experience applying estimating, budgeting, and cost control in complex environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project/construction management, or a related field.
