We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Healthcare to join the team at HMP Wandsworth. You will manage a well-staffed, fully integrated offender healthcare service covering Primary Care, Mental Health, and Substance Misuse services.
About HMP Wandsworth: HMP Wandsworth is a Category B men's prison in London, operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. It is one of the largest UK prisons with approximately 1,628 inmates and high turnover rates.
Role Responsibilities:- Oversee and manage a multi-disciplinary team including primary care, mental health, GP, psychiatry, optometry, dentistry, podiatry, physiotherapy, sexual health, and drug & alcohol services.
- Lead and empower staff, planning and implementing innovative healthcare practices for a 24/7 service.
- Develop and deliver a strategic, evidence-based healthcare service aligned with NHS standards and public health policies.
- Ensure effective patient-centered care planning and monitor service quality through audits and research.
- Collaborate with senior management, external agencies, and community services to ensure continuity of care and service integration.
- Develop strategies to promote health, prevent disease, and optimize resource use.
- Manage staff recruitment, supervision, and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with clinical policies, manage incidents, and oversee medication administration and record-keeping.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Develop partnerships with relevant agencies and organizations.
- Undertake other duties as assigned in collaboration with the Prisons Services Manager.
- Willingness to undertake National Security Vetting.
- Proof of right to work, ID, address, and, if applicable, overseas police checks or good conduct certificates.
