Job Description:

An excellent opportunity to work for a leading client within the science and technology industry. We are recruiting for an R&D Scientist to work as part of a high-performing team specializing in the development of display technology materials, collaborating with some of the world\’s leading brands.

The role will be based at their Research Labs in Southampton, on-site 5 days a week. It will be a hands-on, lab-based position responsible for presenting data and research findings to stakeholders and team members.

Experience with Liquid Crystals, Polymer Science, Reactive Mesogens, and material science is favorable.

We seek a passionate, motivated team player who will receive excellent support, advice, and guidance.

Role Responsibilities

• Measuring physical properties of samples (viscosity, VHR, UV/Vis transmission) and films (retardation profiles, polymerization extent, surface energy, film profile, hardness, adhesion, blocking resistance, durability).
• Passion for Science and Technology

• Technical background in Liquid Crystals, Polymer Science, Reactive Mesogens, or related fields is favorable
• Preparing RM mixtures and solutions traceably
• Handling complexity in a multi-national environment with diverse stakeholders and technologies like AR/VR, Lenses, LIDAR, and Holography
• Preparing RM films using various coating techniques, including coatable polarizer films
• Measuring physical properties of samples and films
• Performing hands-on lab work in an agile environment
• Preparing technical reports and presenting findings
• Developing innovative solutions in Digital Optics for AR/VR
• Carrying out non-routine technical tasks to produce and characterize RM films
• Proactively interacting with internal technical functions and customers
• Developing new materials, IP, and technical opportunities
• Ensuring work is completed according to deadlines and quality standards
• Achieving technical breakthroughs and reporting results clearly
• Ensuring safety and proper use of lab equipment
