Brilliant Lighting are a leading lighting design and Lutron lighting controls dealer, seeking to recruit and develop a lighting controls engineer/project manager. Based in North Yorkshire, we work on highly prestigious projects across the UK and occasionally abroad. This role would suit an ambitious lighting controls engineer, electrician or custom installer wanting to broaden their role and progress. Hands on electrical knowledge is essential, and experience of commissioning complex systems in a residential or high end commercial environments would be ideal.
Skill, attitude and ability to learn are more important than experience though, so we're very open to applicants without direct lighting controls or project management knowledge. We will provide extensive training, and can flex the role to provide as much responsibility and challenge as someone can handle.
As both a leading lighting design firm and a Diamond level Lutron dealer we have a unique 'end to end' approach, and a very close working relationship with our clients. We are looking to recruit someone who can learn, grow, and manage substantial parts of the business in the future.
Under guidance from other very experienced members of the team the immediate role will be wide ranging but will include:
- Designing, programming and commissioning lighting control systems, primarily Lutron HomeWorks.
- Installing and commissioning Lutron electric blinds and curtain tracks.
- Helping to solve onsite lighting issues. This can be very ‘hands on.’
- Inputting into our design process with installation expertise.
- In due course, helping to proactively manage Brilliant Lighting's projects 'on the ground' through liaison with and providing expertise to the client and wider project team, eg; architect, M&E consultant, other design specialists, builder and electricians.
- Managing the flow of goods and invoices to ensure the site teams have the kit from us that they need when they need it.
- Helping maintain the office premises and lighting displays.
For any new member of the team, we expect to do a lot of training either on courses or on the job.
Successful candidates will have/be the following:
- Electrically qualified (ideally) or electrically very competent. This has to be hands on experience, not theoretical.
- At least 5 years experience of working in high end residential construction.
- Networking experience an advantage but not essential.
- Proactive, curious, hungry to learn, and with a 'can do' attitude.
- Organised and professional.
- Great attention to detail.
- Good communicator with a wide range of people (eg; clients, site teams).
- Willing and able to travel to project sites. The amount varies on a weekly basis; the role is not office based but it's not 'working away' either.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced small team environment.
- Driving license.
- Non smoker.
- Fluent English.
- Permanent residency status in the UK. If you don't have this please don't apply.
The role will be based out of our offices in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and you need to be within a commutable distance of Thirsk (most of the team live within c.1-1.5 hours of the office.) Projects are northern biased but we work nationally and being onsite when required is important.
Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
Benefits include:
- Brilliant Lighting is owned by an Employee Ownership Trust. This means that it acts in the best long term interests of the employees, and employees have a share of available profits.
- Great personal development and being involved with enormously rewarding projects.
