Senior Staff Product Engineer, Margin Improvement & Sustaining Engineering

Location: Bristol, UK Job Summary: The Senior Product Engineer (MI/SUS) is responsible for margin improvement and sustaining activities for Semtech products, from production release to end of life, across various markets, processes, and technologies. In this role, you will lead technical investigations impacting product margins and resolve production issues across test, foundry, and assembly domains. You will be involved throughout the product lifecycle, including process changes and improvements, working with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production. You will also develop test strategies, support customer returns, and optimize yield and test processes. Responsibilities: Own manufacturing processes at product introduction, monitor yields and quality, and maintain documentation. Drive process optimization to reduce costs, improve yields, and exceed quality expectations. Improve manufacturing margins and quality, collaborating with test engineering to reduce test time and enhance coverage. Manage customer returns and non-conforming production effectively. Review and influence design for manufacturability with development engineers. Coordinate with production and suppliers to meet forecasts. Work with various internal teams to ensure supply security. Minimum Qualifications: BSc in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5-8 years of relevant experience. Experience in semiconductor technology, product testing, or design engineering. Knowledge of quality systems, corrective actions, and failure analysis. Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (Excel, JMP, Galaxy, dataConductor). Experience with high-speed digital ATE test platforms (e.g., Advantest, Teradyne) is a plus. Knowledge of video, datacom equipment, or high-speed serial interconnects is an asset.
