The role includes routine and emergency obstetrics, on-call (non-resident 1 in 8), providing consultant labour suite cover, elective caesarean lists, ward rounds, assessment unit cover, and antenatal clinics. The department has 44 consultants: 18 obstetricians, 18 gynaecologists, and 8 combined obstetrician-gynaecologists. The labour suite is associated with a level 3 Neonatal Unit, dedicated obstetric anaesthetic service, inpatient and outpatient obstetric services, and a regional fetal medicine centre. There is a 3-tier junior doctor 24-hour presence, a strong research presence, and involvement in national and international clinical trials. Additional features include onsite obstetric ultrasound, specialist scan clinics led by consultants, and services in urogynaecology, reproductive medicine, benign and emergency gynaecology, and gynae oncology. The hospital offers excellent training, educational opportunities, involvement in innovative projects, support networks, and CESR training. Applicants must have GMC registration and MRCOG.
