Our client is a well-established building services company based in Bristol and South Wales, with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Founded in the late 1970s, the company specialises in providing comprehensive electrical, mechanical, and renewable energy solutions to a diverse clientele across the South West and South Wales regions. The business is now looking for an Electrical Operations Manager to join the senior management team operating out of the Bristol HQ.
JOB PURPOSE
As the Electrical Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical installation projects from inception to completion. You will lead a team of supervisors, project managers, and electricians to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and oversee all operational aspects of electrical installation projects (commercial and industrial)
- Plan resources and allocate labour effectively to meet project timelines
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Ensure strict compliance with H&S regulations and industry standards
- Monitor budgets, prepare cost reports, and control project expenditures
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality control and progress
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project and site personnel
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to business development efforts
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proven experience in a senior operations or project management role within the electrical contracting industry
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems and installations
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition, ECS/CSCS)
- SMSTS or equivalent health & safety certification
- Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
- A results-driven mindset with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with estimating and tendering processes desirable
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
- Familiarity with project management software
