About this role
The board of BSAG has three committees, including ORENO (Organisation, Remuneration and Nomination) which oversees the company’s executive team, HR metrics, salary benchmarking, board and advisory board chair appointments.
Responsibilities of the Chair of ORENO include:
- Liaising with group board and committees
- Planning and chairing ORENO meetings (three per year)
- Updating on ORENO’s work and recommendations to group board meetings (three per year)
- Working with the CEO of BSAG and their team
- Working with ORENO to approve executive roles, appointments, salaries, targets and metrics
- Ad hoc discussions, guidance and decisions as required
Experience and skills
BSAG Group Board members are appointed based on experience and skills. The Chair of ORENO will be able to:
- Demonstrate success in senior executive roles
- Show service as a company director, trustee or board/committee chair
- Have experience of HR or managing people
- Understand good governance
It would be beneficial for the Chair to have:
- Knowledge or experience in education, health education, inclusion or safeguarding

Time commitment/remuneration
The Chair of ORENO typically attends three ORENO meetings a year (one in person) and three Group Board meetings (one in person), which are renumerated £750 per day plus reasonable expenses. Any additional in-person meetings will be similarly remunerated.
