Pipe Fitter / Pipe Welder

Overview

North American Construction Services, Ltd. is hiring a permanent, full-time Pipe Fitter / Pipe Welder to join our team in Pinson/Birmingham, AL. NACS is a dynamic subsidiary of Fives North American Combustion and the renowned Fives Group, executing innovative engineering, fabrication, and construction in industrial thermal processes. We design, construct, retrofit, and upgrade furnaces and other industrial equipment, providing turnkey solutions and full lifecycle service and maintenance. Responsibilities

• Pipe Installation: Install, align, and secure pipes, fittings, and fixtures using hand tools, welding equipment, and other specialized tools according to blueprints, specifications, and building codes.
• Layout and Measurement: Measure, cut, and thread pipes accurately using various cutting tools and machinery, interpreting blueprints and layout plans to determine pipe configurations and ensure proper alignment and fitting.
• Welding and Joining: Weld, braze, solder, and cement joints to connect pipes and related components, maintaining structural integrity and leak‑free connections.
• System Testing: Conduct pressure and leakage tests to ensure the integrity of installed piping systems, identifying and rectifying issues promptly to comply with safety and quality standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with construction teams, project managers, engineers, and other tradespeople to coordinate tasks, troubleshoot problems, and ensure seamless integration of piping systems within larger construction projects.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards during pipefitting activities.
• Maintenance and Repairs: Perform maintenance and repair work on existing piping systems, identifying and addressing issues such as corrosion, leaks, and clogs, and replacing or repairing damaged sections as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in pipefitting or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications, such as welding certifications, are advantageous.
• Proven experience as a pipefitter with a strong understanding of pipe systems, materials, and installation techniques.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Knowledge of welding processes and techniques applicable to pipefitting.
• Physical stamina and strength to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.
• A valid driver\’s license and willingness to travel extensively, up to 70% of the time.

Employment Details
