SQL Database Administrator – Contract (Outside IR35)

3-month contract – 3 days per week

We’re looking for a sharp, dependable SQL Database Administrator to jump into a fast-moving environment and help keep our data estate ticking over smoothly. This is a 3-month contract, outside IR35, with 3 days per week onsite in Leicester – perfect for a seasoned DBA who likes being hands-on and close to the action.

What you’ll be doing:

• Maintaining and supporting SQL Server on-prem environments (2016+)
• Owning backup and recovery strategies, maintenance plans, and DR procedures
• Performance tuning and optimisation – indexing, query analysis, execution plans
• Monitoring database health and resolving incidents before they become issues
• Managing security, access, and permissions – keeping the estate locked down and compliant
• Assisting with schema design, data modelling, and deployment support
• Automating routine tasks with PowerShell or SQL Agent jobs where possible
• Working closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders to support wider business operations

Desirable extras:

• Azure SQL Database and hybrid/on-prem-to-cloud migration experience
• Familiarity with SSRS/SSIS or other reporting/integration tools
• Experience in regulated environments (finance, healthcare, etc.)
• Power BI exposure a nice-to-have, but not essential
