Business Development Manager – £50k to £65k + Car + £18k Commission – Northampton – EV, Automotive & Motorsport
I am currently supporting my client in their search for a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying leads and converting opportunities to increase revenue and expand the customer base through acquiring and retaining new clients whilst also maximizing business opportunities within the current customer base. My client is a global engineering consultancy who specialise in everything EV, Motorsport and Automotive.
Role: Business Development Manager
Salary: £50k to £65k
Benefits: Car Allowance up to £8k

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Conduct business lead generation activities to acquire appropriate contracts aligned with the company's business strategy.
- Execute both short- and long-term revenue-generating strategies as defined by the company.
- Meet and exceed individual and departmental sales targets.
- Develop and implement capture plans for open and existing opportunities, ensuring favourable outcomes.
- Promote the company's services to potential customers to maximize sales opportunities.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities for profit generation and cost control within the existing and potential customer base.
- Strengthen relationships with established customers to maximize business opportunities in line with their Account Management Plan.
- Utilize, review, and update CRM information, forecasting, and quotations databases to maintain an accurate sales pipeline.
- Identify new opportunities, generate client needs, and close deals in both existing and new business sectors.
- Gather market intelligence, provide insights, and research new markets and sectors to support business development and growth strategy.
- Collaborate with designated customers to understand their objectives, priorities, and concerns, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
- Monitor competitor activities, including pricing, to ensure the company remains competitive and offers the best value for customers.
- Act as a liaison between the client and the company, ensuring the free flow of information and achieving customer satisfaction while protecting the company’s interests.
- Ensure pricing strategies are positioned and negotiated to achieve maximum margins while maintaining customer confidence and adhering to core values.
- Participate in regular departmental and project-related meetings.
- Generate accurate scope definitions and assumptions for quotation costings, providing all necessary details.
- Prepare and present customer quotations, proposals, RFQs, and tender responses in line with company guidelines.
- Represent the company at trade shows, events, and seminars in a manner aligned with the brand.
- Host and direct customer site visits, including tours of the facility.
Desirables:
- Qualified in relevant engineering discipline to at least NVQ4 level or equivalent
- At least 5 years’ experience within a commercial/sales/business development environment
- Demonstrable experience within the automotive / defence or non-highway industry
- Demonstrable experience of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
- A proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close with a strong business sense and industry expertise
- A good network of contacts within the automotive/SVO/motorsport industry
- The ability to communicate and present credibly
- Able to influence and negotiate
- Must be willing to travel
- Self-motivated
