We provide high quality care and support to older people; people with physical and learning disabilities; people with mental health needs; dementia; carers and clients' families. This extends to respite care for families and carers. We operate services across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, ranging from Residential Homes, Day Services, Supported Living sites and Reablement Home Care.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at Parkstone Connect as a Day Opportunities Support Assistant. Our Day Opportunities Services offer practical and therapeutic support for adults with a range of needs and abilities, to enable individuals to:

  • Participate in a range of meaningful and outcome focused activities.
  • Develop and practice their skills.
  • Get access to a variety of health and care services.
  • Receive supervised nutrition and support.
  • Live active and fulfilled lives in their local community.

Parkstone Connect Hub is a purpose-built day service, providing leisure and learning opportunities, through individual and group meaningful activities. The activities promote choice and independence and aim to enable individuals to develop their skills and engage in meaningful activities such as Pottery, Yoga, Art, Music, Gardening, Exercise, Woodcraft, Reminiscence and Sensory based activities.

As a Day Opportunities Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with individuals, focusing on their strengths, choices, assets, and goals through person centred planning and reviews.
  • Supporting and enabling people to take part in new activities and opportunities, which can help develop confidence, independence and enable individuals to reach their full potential.
  • Supporting people with aspects of their personal care and moving and assisting, as identified within individuals care and support plans.
  • Working in partnership with individuals and their circle of support, which may include Social Work and Health professionals.
  • Administering medication as directed and prescribed by a GP and as set out in the approved Administration of Medication guidelines.
  • Working in a strengths-based way, supporting individuals in a way that maintains dignity, respect, and privacy.
  • Maintaining essential record keeping, through clear written and electronic records in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Organising and participating in activities to meet people's needs, within the services and community, with clearly identified aims and objectives.
  • Supporting individuals on a 1:1 basis within the centre and out in the community.
  • Supporting individuals to/from the service on Passenger Transport.

The Successful Candidate should Have:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Caring, enabling and empathetic attitude.
  • Approachable, with a calm and patient manner.
  • Ability to follow care and support plans and risk assessments.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of Tricuro services.
  • Commitment to achieving Diploma Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care.
  • Understanding of the CQC Fundamental Standards and the Care Act 2014.

Part-time - 30 hours per week.
