A prestigious luxury retail brand is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join their legal team. This role is ideal for a NQ+ lawyer with expertise in commercial law, ready to handle a diverse range of responsibilities, including IP/trademark strategy, contract negotiation, supplier agreements, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate agreements, and legal documents including supplier contracts, partnership/licensing agreements, marketing agreements and sales agreements.
- Legal Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with local (UK), European Union and US laws.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations, product development, and commercial transactions.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Manage and protect the company’s intellectual property rights, including trademarks and copyrights.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including Production, Marketing, Design and HR to provide legal support and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Dispute Resolution: Handle legal disputes, claims, and litigation matters, including negotiations and settlements (if applicable with outside counsel).
- Contract management: enhance and implement contract templates and legal processes to streamline operations, manage the company’s contract management system and monitor and follow up on contract renewals.
- Legal Research: Stay abreast of developments in relevant areas of law and provide proactive legal advice and guidance to support business objectives.
- Corporate Governance: Advise senior management on corporate governance matters, compliance best practices, and corporate structuring initiatives.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with, relevant multi-disciplinary experience, ideally acquired as a lawyer either in a law firm or in-house.
- Previous in-house experience within an international context, particularly in the retail/luxury fashion industry, is highly advantageous.
