Description
Working as a key part of the turnaround team you will be required to integrate, communicate and work with multiple disciplines to build a resource loaded Primavera schedule to execute refinery unit shutdowns and maintenance activities. During the planning phase you will work closely with the unit lead, planners and other key stakeholders to ensure correct sequencing of equipment and repair jobs. During execution you will ensure the correct work areas are progressed daily and look ahead for any possible threats or opportunities. You will be required to complete daily progress updates and produce daily/weekly reports to management.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Adhere to the Valero Turnaround Excellence Process (VTEP), including milestone compliance and use all applicable workbench modules and applications.
· Lead constructability reviews with key stakeholders to understand sequencing of equipment.
· Undertake critical path analysis and advise on schedule opportunities and threats.
· Produce daily progress “S Curve” reports for baseline, earned and forecast at completion.
· Create and provide look ahead reports for contractors, supervisors and coordinators.
· Level resources and develop manpower levels for service contractors and Valero maintenance crafts and produce resource histograms
· Update schedule progress, analyse data for opportunities, identify recovery plans and communicate schedule performance risks
ensuring the plan reflects actual progress.
· Incorporate additional work requests into the schedule during execution and assess impact.
· Work with cost control on direct and indirect labour profiles to ensure phase estimates are accurate.
· Build and develop the P6 schedule to include all planned scope.
· Build and modify work breakdown structures and work activities in a scheduling software (Primavera P6), assign resources, work order
numbers, shift calendars, project codes, layouts, and structure custom reports.
· Integrate engineered capital project work into overall Turnaround project schedule.
· Build logic for all phases of the event to develop critical path and overall event duration.
· Establish critical path from oil out to oil in.
· Monitor critical and near critical path activities to ensure project milestones are achieved.
· Analyse critical path for threats to project success and communicate accordingly.
· Schedule contractors’ scope and unit systems within the critical path window.
· Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and exposures.
· Monitor contractor headcount during turnarounds.
· Facilitate and document lessons learned for implementation on future planned events.
· Maintain electronic and hard copy records for all turnaround information.
· Committed to working safely.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Minimum 5 years of planning, project coordination, and/or maintenance experience preferably in oil and gas, or other continuous process industry.
· HNC qualified in a relevant field is desirable.
· Working knowledge of planning and scheduling theory
· Advanced skill using Oracle Primavera P6, including detailed coding, activity prioritisation, resource levelling and custom reporting.
· Must be able to adapt to tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
· Experienced in using computer-based planning and scheduling tools.
· Experienced in reading engineering drawings, such as plot plans, piping isometrics, and P&IDs.
