Burmor Construction Limited is a rapidly growing main contractor based in Market Deeping. The company specialises in affordable housing, commercial, industrial, and private developments and employs a workforce of over 50 employees to ensure the highest quality and consistency in every project.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Buyer to support the procurement activities within our commercial team on a permanent basis. The Assistant Buyer will work alongside our Buyer to ensure the timely and cost-effective purchase of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the buyer with generating purchase orders, monitoring lead times, and managing delivery schedules.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure best value.
- Create and maintain material schedules.
- Assist with site material enquiries.
- Picking up changes/variations to plan.
- Assist with commercial/purchase ledger administrative duties.
- Work to deadline and budgets.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to purchasing.
- Organisational: Strong organisational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong Numeracy: You will be involved in managing budgets, analysing costs, and negotiating prices, requiring a strong numerical aptitude.
- Proactive and Self-Motivated: You should be able to take initiative and work independently.
- Team Player: As an integral part of the commercial team, you’ll be required to work closely with Quantity Surveyors, site teams and suppliers.
This role is based at our head office in Market Deeping. 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday – Friday.
Salary package DOE.
