Location : Bristol (Hybrid)
Position Overview
A leading renewable energy organisation is seeking an accomplished SCADA Manager to oversee and guide all SCADA-related technical design activities. This role involves managing every stage of SCADA projects—from initial tendering right through to commissioning—ensuring best practices, consistency, and on-time delivery. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders to guarantee successful implementation of SCADA systems in alignment with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key technical authority for SCADA design, approving communication architecture, bill of materials, and device configuration.
- Oversee the development of standardised templates, including RTU/HMI designs and signal lists.
- Guide the design of SCADA communication networks, ensuring all work complies with regulations, industry standards, and internal procedures.
- Collaborate with protection and control teams to coordinate intelligent electronic device (IED) configuration.
- Provide expertise in cyber security protocols for SCADA infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues and ensure prompt resolution.
- Sign off critical documentation, specifications, and schedules related to SCADA aspects of contracts.
- Evaluate and approve design risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Authorise procurement of major equipment, ensuring conformity with agreed standards.
- Mentor team members and colleagues to enhance capabilities across the business.
- Review subcontractor deliverables to ensure they meet project requirements.
Requirements
- Substantial experience (ideally 10+ years) in SCADA design, especially for substations up to 132kV.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and a strong familiarity with applicable engineering guidelines and standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical details clearly.
- Sound understanding of construction methods and engineering design principles.
- Clean driving licence and willingness to work flexibly.
