Are you experienced in the coordination and management of volunteers? We are looking for a diligent individual to steward and grow a national team of volunteers for a well-known healthcare charity.
Position: Volunteering & Public Engagement Manager
Location: Remote
Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
About the Role: You will be responsible for ensuring volunteers have the best experience with the charity. As part of a central team, through telephone, online and face-to-face channels, you will be responsible for the stewardship of volunteers across the UK. A key element of the role is also to increase the diversity and reach of the charity's volunteering network and its impact.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead on the day-to-day management of the charity's advocate networks including recruitment, training management and development of the charity's network on volunteers with lived experience.
- Manage the volunteer component of new and existing externally funded projects, to include best practice guidance to colleagues, project planning and volunteer briefing, training and reporting.
- Manage the engagement of volunteers’ participation in key programmes and activities, to include project scoping, planning and reporting, working closely with service delivery colleagues.
- Manage the recruitment, induction, training and onboarding of new volunteers.
- Support the Volunteering & Public Engagement Officer to remotely manage the charity's network of Support Groups.
- Contribute to new ways of working by shaping initiatives, tools and training resources to act as enablers for the charity's volunteers to be empowered, confident and compliant in supporting the charity in delivery of its mission.
- Support the development and delivery of prioritised workplans in line with strategic direction and operational objectives.
- Support wider organisational objectives campaigning, media, service improvement and support with developing the content of communications for volunteers.
Essential skills:
- Experience of recruitment, induction, training and management of volunteers.
- Experience with co-production and co-design principles in relation to volunteering and engaging people with lived experience.
- Self-starter, driven and forward-thinking, innovative and solution-focused, ‘can do’ approach.
- Excellent ability to communicate and present verbally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and facilitative skills, with the ability to motivate, guide and persuade individuals, preferably in a volunteering capacity.
- Experience of planning and managing projects and events according to agreed objectives and time constraints.
- A sound knowledge and practical experience of CRM database management and Windows based software, particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
