Corporate Counsel - German Speaking

Responsibilities

1. Effectively maintain and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues in the EU and US teams, to support and create consistency in legal advice.
2. Assess business needs/requirements, research issues, and provide legal advice to minimize risks and support business teams and leadership.
3. Lead negotiations and draft a broad range of commercial contracts for customers and suppliers.
4. Provide guidance and support to other lawyers and develop materials and processes to support and improve the legal function.
5. Use experience-based knowledge to plan and achieve goals, exercising creativity, sound judgment, and escalation when necessary.
6. Monitor and report on industry-related topics and legal changes.
7. Manage workload effectively, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple requests under pressure.
8. Maintain high attention to detail, confidentiality, and demonstrate diligence in responsibilities.
9. Work independently and proactively suggest initiatives to improve the team.

Qualifications

Competency Based Qualifications:

1. Qualified lawyer in one or more European jurisdictions with a civil law system; qualification in Germany is a plus, with significant experience in commercial law and drafting/negotiating complex contracts.
2. Fluent in German and English; additional languages like Spanish or French are advantageous.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
4. Experience working in Germany or on German contracts/projects is preferred.
5. High professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
6. Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
7. Strong organizational and time management skills.
8. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
9. Leadership skills with experience in developing others.
