In this role, as a Senior Design Engineer - Packaging, Architecture & Virtual Series you will be responsible for generating CAD-based engineering design solutions for our commercial electric vehicles. Your focus will be on developing our capability in creating, analysing, and delivering whole vehicle and vehicle sub-system concepts and designs. You will be utilising virtual design and analysis to achieve build feasibility and attribute delivery in the physical domain, complementing the expertise of the commodity and vehicle attributes teams. We are looking for an experienced design engineer with a deep understanding of creating vehicle components to support wider spanning projects and their optimal integration with all other vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical skills and strong leadership abilities to thrive in a dynamic and challenging engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the weekly package review.
- Oversee Digital Prototype Analysis, Virtual build and the Virtual OKTB process.
- Develop and Release Hardpoint targets for Concepts.
- Support concept system selections to meet architectural requirements in line with Engineering targets and attributes.
- Take ownership of technical reviews and issues.
- Use CAD to create models for review.
- Review drawings from the wider engineering team and ensure their quality, hardpoint and attribute compatibility, and integration into the wider vehicle.
- Ensure adherence to Design Standards.
- Create and deliver concise technical presentations for informed decision making.
- Monitor CAD level/status throughout the design process.
- Experience with current and forthcoming vehicle architectures and system technologies.
- Demonstrated CAD/CATIA experience in developing and designing product solutions.
- Degree qualified or relevant Engineering Apprenticeship with a minimum of HNC/HND.
- Experience within the automotive or commercial vehicle industry.
- A candidate who is assertive, self-motivated, demonstrates ownership of issues, and can work with minimal direction.
- Previous experience in bus/commercial vehicles and vehicle electrification.
- Vehicle integration experience, attribute target setting and delivery, virtual vehicle development, and CAD maturity assessments.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with all engineering functions.
