New Product Development Chemist Permanent c£30,000 Manchester We are working with an established chemical company in Manchester who are seeking a chemist to work primarily as kilo scale in synthesis chemistry activities. This is an organic chemistry role, which will be suitable for someone who is a graduate in chemistry with a bit of experience (or equivalently qualified). What you’ll do: The role will be driven towards duties in four core areas which are New Product Development, Process Chemistry, Process Optimisation and Technical Support. You will be working on chemistry in response to core business needs for chemicals they stock every day, and also in response to client requests where the company operates as a contract manufacturing organisation. The role will involve reaction route identification, and then carrying out the chemical reactions to kilo scale. You will then be working in the characterisation of the chemicals (using GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV) and this will involve you developing methods for analysis, as well as checking factors like exothermic properties, how they are cooling, what gasses are being produced and ensuring the chemistry ‘fits the bill’ for being transferred to the plant which will then be scales up to multi-tonne.
