Copart UK Ltd are seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to join our IT Department on an FTC to cover maternity leave at our Head Office in Wootton, Bedford. In this role, you will collaborate with multiple teams across the business to gather requirements, design, develop, and maintain high-quality, customer facing websites built on WordPress. You will ensure the ongoing performance, stability, and security of these websites, and play a key role in integrating a wide range of internal and external APIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather and clarify website requirements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain WordPress based websites, ensuring excellent user experience and performance.
  • Support and troubleshoot customer-facing websites, resolving issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Integrate internal and external APIs to extend website functionality.
  • Collaborate with teams in both the UK and US to deliver consistent technical solutions.
  • Stay current with best practices in web development, WordPress, and related technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven commercial experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites.
  • Strong understanding of the WordPress ecosystem, including themes, plugins, and architecture.
  • Solid grasp of HTML and CSS; ability to implement custom designs and layouts.
  • Experience using version control systems (e.g., GitHub or similar).
  • Understanding of SEO principles and web performance optimization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong eye for UX/UI design and website aesthetics.
  • Collaborative attitude with the ability to build rapport across teams.
  • Eagerness to learn and expand your technical skillset.
  • Proficiency in PHP and JavaScript.
  • WordPress plugin development experience.
  • Experience with popular theme editors such as Divi or Elementor.
