Job Overview

Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust collaborates with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare to deliver Talking Therapies (IAPT) services across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Due to ongoing expansion, we are advertising for new trainee posts starting in September 2025.

We have 6 High Intensity Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist positions available, potentially located in Tamworth, Cannock, and Stafford.

The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Wellbeing Service is a creative organization that values staff ideas and continuously seeks to improve and adapt to changing expectations.

We maintain strong links with academic institutions, with staff involved in teaching university courses developed in partnership with MPFT.

Our staff lead professional development sessions locally and nationally, and you will be encouraged to develop your practice through various CPD opportunities.

Service hours are from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, with future Saturday mornings. Candidates must work flexibly to meet service needs.

When applying, please provide detailed evidence on how you meet the criteria outlined in the Personal Specification in your Supporting Statement, and specify your locality preference at the end.

Main duties include studying a 12-month Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Staffordshire University, starting 24th September 2025, with a schedule of three days clinical work and two days at university weekly.

The service provides in-house training and supervision, with access to suitable training cases to meet course requirements.

Successful candidates who pass the PG Diploma without performance concerns will be offered Band 7 CBT Therapist posts.

Applicants will undergo academic screening on 26th June, with interviews in July for shortlisted candidates. All applicants must demonstrate eligibility for the course, especially if they do not hold a recognized core profession by BABCP, by submitting a KSA portfolio.

Please adhere to the 2-year rule set by Health Education England if previously trained.

Working for our organization includes career development support, NHS pension, generous leave, flexible working options, annual leave up to 33 days, health and wellbeing resources, travel reimbursement, lease or salary sacrifice cars, bikes, free parking, annual flu vaccinations, and additional financial support through Citizens Advice and a Hardship Fund.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, with staff networks available.

Note: Use of AI in applications will be monitored; disclose AI use if applicable.

This vacancy may close early if sufficient applications are received.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in training as Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, particularly those with some experience in delivering CBT and treating anxiety and depression, seeking further specialization.

Our teams prioritize ongoing training, supervision, and support, with a strong record in quality and research, in partnership with Staffordshire and Keele Universities.

Please evidence how you meet the Personal Specification criteria and state your locality preference in your Supporting Statement. The vacancy will close once enough qualified applications are received.
