We have an opportunity to work as part of a community team providing a specialist service to people living with communication and swallowing disorders in the Bridgnorth and Church Stretton area.

Our service aims to provide support and advice to patients and their families on how to deal with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties in both the local community hospital ward and in various settings in the surrounding area.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as part of a small team working in Bridgnorth and Church Stretton, providing a service to people who live with communication, voice, and swallowing disorders, as well as their families and carers.

You will provide assessment and management for a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders both on the hospital ward and in the wider community and ICS team.

The community SLT team at SATH works across the whole of Shropshire, including 4 community hospitals and The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, including their specialist spinal unit. We also provide services into ICS teams countywide.

We have clinical leads in Spinal Injury, Dysfluency, Voice, and Dysphagia.

We are a hardworking but friendly and supportive team working in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment. Given the nature of our caseloads, the range of disorders we treat, and the large geographical area we cover, the post holder will need to be a driver with access to a vehicle, flexible, and resilient, responding to the changing needs of the service daily.

We hold monthly staff meetings (with cake!) and have regular clinical and management supervision sessions. We also have regular Professional Meetings attended by all SLT teams within the Trust and monthly CPD sessions.
