Job Summary & Purpose The Director of Training and Education is responsible for overseeing, delivering, and continuously developing training programs, continuing professional development (CPD), and managing the probation period for all doctors at Psychiatry UK. This role aims to enhance clinical competency, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and foster a culture of learning and professional growth within the organisation. Role Outline Provide expert guidance on clinical training standards and educational practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical services. Collaborate with clinical leaders and external partners to develop and transform training pathways and CPD programs for doctors. Ensure that training programs meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Provide leadership to the development and running of the Academy training programme for doctors. Oversee the performance management of doctors during their training and probation periods, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and practices. Lead the redesign of training programs and initiatives, ensuring they align with the organisation’s strategic goals. Person Specification Essential Areas : Medical Degree level qualification and postgraduate qualifications. Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice. Included in the GMC Specialist Register. Significant experience in medical education, training, or leadership roles. Desirable Areas: Experience in strategic leadership within the NHS or a similar complex organisation. Additional qualifications in education, training, or leadership (e.g., a teaching qualification). Experience in developing and implementing training programs in a healthcare setting. Knowledge & Skills Specification Understanding of health service and NHS operations. Knowledge of methods for developing clinical quality assurance, quality improvement, and evidence-based clinical practice. Strategic thinker with proven leadership skills and the ability to design, develop, interpret, and implement policies. Strong understanding of training needs assessment, educational methodologies, and continuing professional development requirements for medical professionals. Strong leadership, organisational, and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High level of understanding of epidemiology and statistics, health economics, and healthcare evaluation. Project management skills and practical experience in facilitating change. Knowledge of current trends in medical education and training. Experience with e-learning and digital training platforms. Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to medical training and education.
