Exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Advisor specialising in ISDA Master Agreements to join this global Energy company. This is an exciting time to join this world-leading Energy company as it evolves from a traditional Oil & Gas enterprise into a future-focused Energy leader. This transformation includes the establishment of a highly successful new Power Trading desk within the Energy Trading team and ventures into cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving demands of the Energy sector. These initiatives include advanced Gas infrastructure, LNG technology, effective Energy Storage systems and Green Energy solutions. These innovations create opportunities for exceptionally talented individuals to contribute to the success of this evolution, working alongside some of the industry’s top professionals and leveraging the very latest technology.
You must have in-depth knowledge of documentation and legal frameworks related to derivatives trading (e.g., ISDA, CSA/VMCSA, brokerage and master agreements as well as a strong understanding of regulatory environments relevant to OTC derivatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as a subject matter expert, offering guidance on complex contractual frameworks including ISDAs, delegated reporting agreements, broker and service-level agreements, and ensuring regulatory and internal compliance.
- Advise trading teams on the contractual and commercial risks of their activities, ensuring that agreements are robust and aligned with operational requirements.
- Support in resolving contractual disputes, engaging with legal counsel where appropriate.
- Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements and assess their impact on business activities.
- Draft and negotiate tailored agreements to support new or complex trading strategies.
- Maintain thorough and transparent records of ongoing negotiations and agreements to provide clarity to stakeholders.
- Understand and ensure compliance with internal controls and external audit standards, particularly in relation to derivatives and SOX requirements.
- Provide commercial advice before and after trades to support optimal business outcomes.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of confirmations processes and compliance with regulatory regimes such as EMIR.
- Offer cross-team support as needed to maintain business continuity.
This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
