About us Avencia Consulting are partnered with a leading Specialty Insurer who are looking to hire a Contract Wordings Assistant to join their London team! The role Reporting to Contract Wordings Manager, a member of the Contract Wordings Team. This is an exciting entry level opportunity for a motivated individual seeking to build a long-term career in the specialist field of insurance contract wordings. You will join a high performing team operating in both the Lloyd\’s and Company markets. With close one-to-one mentoring provided by the Head of Wordings, Contract Wordings Manager and other senior team members, you\’ll be supported as you develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a valued technical expert. This role is about potential and enthusiasm, not prior experience. Key accountabilities (Responsibilities will grow progressively as your training develops) Shadow and support members of the Contract Wordings team in daily activities Learn how insurance contracts are structured and the basics of contract wordings Assist with the organisation and tracking of contract documentation Attend internal meetings with underwriters, claims, legal and compliance teams Support the preparation, compilation and updating of policy documentation and endorsements Begin reviewing standard clauses under guidance, learning to interpret and question contract language Assist with post bind contract sampling and quality assurance checks Participate in internal training to develop your knowledge of the Lloyd\’s and Company marketsSkills & experience A recent school leaver, career changer or early career professional Strong A-levels or equivalent, ideally including Law or English (degree not essential) Excellent written and verbal communication skills A natural interest in language, contracts and how things are expressed Curious, motivated to learn and willing to take initiative Comfortable engaging with colleagues across various teams Well organised, with good attention to detail and accuracy
