My client, a leading construction product developer, working with some of the most well recognised and global brands are looking for a Head of Procurement to join them on a full-time basis in their Kent office. Within this role you will be responsible for a substantial and growing direct spend budget and managing the growth and development of the procurement team. As Head of Procurement you will foster and develop existing and new supplier relationships ensuring the organisation is getting the best value from their suppliers and be responsible for the ongoing procurement strategy.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the availability of stock across the whole product range and work with suppliers to reduce lead time so stock holding efficiency can be improved.
  • Keep regular and consistent communication with suppliers developing supplier relationships.
  • Audit suppliers and ensure that they are maintaining quality, environmental and health and safety standards.
  • Assess risks across the supply chain and implement risk reduction activities such as service level agreements and negotiated contracts.
  • Compare and monitor cost prices and ensure that negotiations are happening with suppliers to keep cost base as low as possible without negatively impacting quality.
  • Review the supply chain to find hidden costs that can be removed or reduced and take actions to improve the P&L.
  • Ensure ordering is maintained and all administrative activities are completed efficiently so that the ERP & SRM systems remain a source of truth.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and developing Procurement strategy.
  • Establish clear performance metrics and goals for individual team members and regularly evaluate their performance.

Essential Skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar procurement leadership role responsible for significant spend.
  • Proven record of managing procurement function within a medium to large sized business preferably within construction, engineering or manufacturing.
  • Experienced with people management.
  • CIPs or MCIPs is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Customer centric.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
