About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker to join our dedicated team at our specialist school for children and young people aged 2-19. Our pupils have a range of complex needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred support to students within the classroom and beyond.
  • Assist students with their learning and development, both academic and life skills.
  • Support students with personal care needs, following individual care plans.
  • Facilitate community-based learning experiences to help students develop independence and real-world skills.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to implement tailored learning plans.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all pupils.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential.
  • Must hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS for both the Child and Adult Workforce, registered on the Update Service.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • A patient, empathetic approach with a passion for helping students reach their full potential.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods.
  • Manual handling or personal care experience.
  • Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care or Education.
