Job Purpose/Objectives of a Mobile Crane Operator

Key Responsibilities of a Mobile Crane Operator
- Operate cranes according to manufacturer's instructions at all times.
- Follow road traffic regulations.
- Wear PPE appropriately.
- Use outriggers correctly, ensuring they are used on level ground.
- Set and check the rated capacity limiter and indicator.
- Properly use manual handling equipment, such as outrigger pans.
- Liaise with Site/Project Managers upon arrival on site.
- Resist pressures to perform unsafe operations.
- Understand and apply information from reports and duty charts related to crane operation and safety.
- Be aware of wind and climatic effects on crane and load safety.
- Take action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping operations if necessary.
- Operate fire suppressant systems if fitted.
- Access and depart the crane safely using ladders and grab rails.
- Undergo training on specific crane models, rigging, and maintenance procedures; familiarize with all crane documentation.
- Continuously seek improvements in role performance to meet business objectives.
