Electrical Estimator needed in Essex – commutable from East London, Dagenham, Dartford, Brentwood, Chelmsford and surrounding areas. We’re working with a respected and growing M&E contractor who are looking to add a sharp, proactive Electrical Estimator to their pre-construction team. This is a great opportunity to join a busy contractor working on residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments across London and the South East.

The Role: As an Electrical Estimator, you'll play a key role in producing accurate tenders, preparing cost plans, and supporting the bid process for new electrical works. You’ll work closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and internal teams to help secure a strong pipeline of projects – from infrastructure and distribution to full electrical installations and fit-out packages. This is a hands-on estimating role where your attention to detail, commercial mindset, and understanding of electrical systems will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare electrical estimates and tender submissions for residential and commercial M&E projects
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documents to compile accurate costs
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive and compliant quotes
  • Support bid handovers and assist delivery teams in understanding tender outputs
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and propose cost-effective alternatives
  • Assist with risk assessments, programme input, and post-tender negotiations
  • Collaborate with in-house design and delivery teams to ensure buildable, realistic pricing

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 2–5 years’ experience in an Electrical Estimator or M&E Estimator role
  • Proven track record within building services or M&E contracting
  • Competent with estimating software (e.g., Estimation, Trimble) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of current market rates
  • Able to confidently read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills
  • Background in electrical engineering or building services (HNC/HND or degree preferred)
