Are you a qualified Welding Engineer with experience in coordination and quality assurance? This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role in enhancing a well-established Welding Quality Management System within a high-integrity engineering environment.

About the role

You’ll play a key role in supporting daily welding operations, driving quality improvements, and ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant industry standards and certifications. You’ll be part of a dedicated quality team and will act as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) for the business. This is a broad role with real influence - from developing WPSs and supporting new product introductions to coordinating internal audits and contributing to equipment strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all welding standards, procedures, and accreditations (ISO 3834, EN 1090, DIN 2303)
  • Coordinate welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606 & 14732
  • Lead works order planning (welding) in SAP
  • Plan and manage internal welder audits
  • Conduct pre-audit analysis and identify areas for corrective action
  • Develop WPSs and SOPs for new and existing programmes
  • Investigate welding issues using structured problem-solving methods (RCCA)
  • Review and assess welding-related suppliers
  • Support engineering and design teams on welding matters
  • Advise on plant selection and identify opportunities to introduce latest technology and automation

What you’ll need:

  • IWT or EWT qualification
  • CSWIP 3.1 certification
  • Registered with The Welding Institute (TWI)
  • Strong coordination experience in a welding-focused role
  • Excellent knowledge of MIG, MAG, TIG, and SMAW processes
  • Working knowledge of ISO 3834 and exposure to external audits
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Strong computer skills and good people management abilities

Desirable (training can be provided):

  • IWE / EWE qualification
  • MSc in Welding Engineering or relevant Metallurgy qualification
  • Experience with armoured steel or aluminium welding
  • Familiarity with mechanised and automated welding systems
