We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Teacher to join a dedicated team providing high-quality education to young people aged 14–19 with complex needs and behaviours. This is a key leadership role, responsible for delivering outstanding teaching, managing staff, and ensuring a safe, aspirational learning environment for all students. As Lead Teacher, you will take ownership of the educational provision at a specific college site. You will play a central role in developing the curriculum, supporting teaching and learning, and leading on behaviour and safeguarding. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning * Deliver engaging, differentiated teaching in Functional skills – GCSE Maths and/or English * Experience teaching a variety of subjects such as customer service and employability would be an advantage * Build supportive, professional relationships with students, families, and carers. * Oversee the curriculum for your subject area, ensuring alignment with accreditation and regulatory requirements. * Develop and update schemes of work and lesson plans to meet learners’ needs. * Manage the timetable to ensure efficient use of staff and resources. Leadership and Management * Lead on improving the quality of teaching and learning through regular observation and feedback. * Monitor student progress using data and reporting systems, taking appropriate action where needed. * Set and review performance targets for teaching staff; provide ongoing supervision and support. * Lead the safeguarding provision on site as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). * Promote a positive learning culture that supports achievement and emotional well-being. Person Specification Essential: * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or willingness to work towards it. * Experience delivering a variety of vocational skills would be an advantage * DSL qualification or willingness to undertake training. * Experience working with young people with complex needs and challenging behaviour. * Proven ability to lead and manage teaching staff, including performance management. * Strong understanding of personalised teaching and behaviour management strategies. Desirable: * Previous experience in an alternative or specialist provision. * Knowledge of curriculum frameworks and regulatory guidance for 14–19 education.
