Chemical packer required for our well established client based in Loughborough. Temporary initially, however could lead to a permanent job for the right candidate.
Position Summary: Packing of all types of chemicals into multiple styles of containers and outer packaging, following procedures and standing safety instructions. Role and work-time flexibility are essential factors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follow the details given in schedules (works orders) and understand the packaging requirements.
- Ensure all unsafe incidents and accidents are reported in a timely manner, reports are written and returned to the EHS department according to procedure.
- Fill all types of chemicals into a range of styles and sizes of container, using a wide range of equipment both automatic and manual.
- Use a wide range of measuring and weighing equipment.
- Complete transactions on a computer based system for finished materials.
- Assemble the constituents of a variety of packs correctly and seal and label them correctly in order to comply with UN legislation.
- Be responsible for checking that batch numbers and chemical code numbers given on the schedule match those on the labels and the product container.
- Be aware of own and staffβs responsibilities for Health and Safety and the Environment. Following the appropriate procedures, ensure compliance with manual handling, COSHH & waste handling as required; follow safe and environmentally sound working practices.
- Logistics; organise or physically move/collect containers of chemicals up to 1000L IBCs, 200L drums, 25kg sacks etc as required. Understand and work with the Company Systems.
- Label containers with supply labels and designated UN labels when appropriate.
- Palletise completed packs and where appropriate strapping or stretch wrapping to allow safe transfer to the finished goods warehouse.
- Assist with the movement of raw materials and finished goods to all areas of the company whenever appropriate.
- Process returned packaging for reuse. Be aware of the hazardous nature of the materials being handled and possible compatibility problems.
- Work with due care and attention and in accordance with prescribed safety guidelines, adhering to the company policy, including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Carry out routine inspection and quality checks.
- Be aware of product quality and measures to prevent possible contamination.
- Carry out routine maintenance on equipment as necessary.
- Be prepared to move between Departments within the Company.
- Carry out housekeeping duties as required.
- Assist with the disposal of redundant materials.
- Take active part in improvement initiatives within the Department.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- To hold considerable chemical handling experience and to demonstrate the following:
- Chemical packing experience from gram to multi-tonne.
- Chemical awareness.
- Ability to follow procedures/work instructions etc.
- Carry out computer transactions.
- Knowledge of Company quality systems.
