Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a qualified and experienced Probation Officer to support HMP Grendon remotely with offender assessments and risk management tasks. This is a fully remote temporary contract ideal for a Probation Officer with recent experience who is confident working independently, particularly on OASys-based tasks. The role is focused on risk assessment, sentence planning, and managing public protection responsibilities in collaboration with prison-based colleagues.

Summary of Job

  • Location: Remote (supporting HMP Grendon)
  • Contract: 3 months (with potential for extension)
  • Hours: Full-time preferred (Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm) - part-time applicants will also be considered
  • Rate: £21.75 p/h PAYE £28.64 p/h Umbrella

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete and update OASys assessments, including full risk of serious harm (RoSH), risk management plans, and sentence planning
  • Review and analyse criminogenic needs, risk factors, and intervention pathways
  • Contribute to multi-agency processes including MAPPA and recall recommendations
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records on nDelius and other case management systems
  • Liaise remotely with prison staff, programme facilitators, and other professionals to support sentence plan implementation
  • Prepare reports and written contributions for parole boards, risk panels, or internal review processes
  • Attend virtual team meetings and participate in supervision as required

Person Specification

Essential

  • Must be a qualified Probation Officer (DipPS or PQiP)
  • Recent experience (within the last 5 years) working as a Probation Officer
  • Strong working knowledge of OASys, risk assessments, and sentence planning
  • Confident working independently and remotely, with strong time management skills
  • Familiarity with nDelius, MAPPA processes, and public protection frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience working with complex or high-risk offenders, particularly in a custodial setting
  • Understanding of psychologically informed approaches or specialist environments like HMP Grendon

Additional Information

  • Enhanced DBS and HMPPS vetting required - RSR can assist with the application
