To be responsible for providing a safe, efficient and effective highway construction, maintenance and winter service, which meets the needs of the citizens of Leeds.

Duties:

  • Drive safely and be responsible for any allocated vehicle, including completion of drivers’ hours record book.
  • Be responsible for providing a safe, efficient, and reliable highway construction and maintenance service.
  • Duties will include vehicle checks, required routine maintenance (for example oil and water checks) and cleaning of the cab.
  • Be responsible for the safe use of the vehicle, oversight of the operational work and safety of self, other work colleagues, on-site contractors and customers.
  • Operating of small plant including vibrating rollers, vibrating plates, compressors, cut-off saws, road saws.

Hours & Pay:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8am - 4pm
  • Starting at £13.05 P/H
  • Weekly pay whilst through agency

Experience:

  • Knowledge of Drivers’ Hours Rules: 3 years (preferred)
  • Knowledge of EU Tachograph rules: 3 years (preferred)
  • Highway code: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • NRASWA Street Works Qualifications (preferred)
  • NPORS or similar plant operator’s qualification (preferred)
  • Mechanical loading shovel certificate (preferred)
  • Abrasive wheels certificate (preferred)
  • NVQ level 2 in a construction related discipline (preferred)
  • Manual Handling certificate (preferred)
  • Experience of using mechanical gritter/ snow plough (preferred)
  • LGV Class C Licence (required)
