The opportunity

We at TheLawyer.com are looking to recruit a Research & Data Assistant to work within our Research & Data team. This is a full-time role, which can be performed on a semi-hybrid basis but has the requirement to work at our offices in York Road (near London Waterloo) on a regular 2-3 days per week pattern. Reporting to the Team Leader of our Market Reports function, the successful candidate will assist and support the team in several different areas across our Market Reports, Market Data Analysis channels. We think the role would particularly suit a Research Assistant with previous experience looking to start a career in legal market analysis. This role provides the successful candidate the opportunity to be part of a team that works with some of the world’s leading law firms.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring accurate data collection and data entry activities for datafiles and databases at TheLawyer.com
  • Online scripting of research surveys
  • Day to day management of live ‘in field’ research surveys, including monitoring and driving response rates (including liaison with external providers of data such as panel companies and data suppliers)
  • Production of data and charts for report outputs using a range of research software tools (both on and offline), identifying patterns, trends and stories in the data
  • Coding of unstructured ‘free text’ data using research software
  • Day to day management of sponsorship and events satisfaction research programs at TheLawyer.com
  • Day to day management of internal employee surveys at TheLawyer.com

What experience would make you a good fit for this position:

Prior experience in a professional research environment that demonstrates running large scale research programmes. This could include contributions to research design, data collection, statistical analysis, or reporting within a commercial or governmental context. Or in the absence of professional research experience, candidates must demonstrate substantial experience conducting in-depth data analysis in an academic setting. This should involve the practical use of data and analytics tools (e.g. R, Python, SPSS, Stata, Excel, or similar) for quantitative research, such as during a dissertation, thesis, or other structured research project.
